Love seeing your sub-stats Mika, looking forward to doing an end of year review next week - sneakily hoping Substack also do a '2024 wrapped' to help with it!
Love your transparency about your journey Mika. I'm trying to get rid of evening scrolling too (in fact all evening screen time ideally) - not managing all the time, but when I do it's a breath of fresh air and great for my sleep 👌
Yes please! Let's check in and see how it's going 😃 It's definitely not relaxation from a nervous system perspective, screens are very stimulating.... and always leave me feeling a bit yucky....
Loved reading this 💛✨ Have you deleted your social profiles Mika, or just the apps from your phone? I have deleted my X profile, and I have been tempted to delete Facebook too, but not quite ready yet! I am having a struggle keeping up with reading all the Substacks I’m subscribed to as well, but I love that they are there forever, and I can go back and read and comment even if they’re weeks and weeks old!
Just from my phone. I was trying to stop the mindless scrolling habit that I got into. I deleted YouTube from my phone as well.
I think Facebook has done a good job at making us rely on keeping in touch with friends and family. When in fact, we still can contact them in other ways. 😄
Me too Melissa! it’s a great feature. I think a favourites feature would also be awesome, so my most favourite substacks pop in at the top of my inbox.
Always interesting to follow your very intentional Substack journey Mika. I think your comment "we get to show up in a way that feels right for us" sums it up really well. I'm not overly invested here because my blog is my main focus, but I still find it to be a great place to stay in touch with those who use this platform and to meet new people here and there. Thank you for your interest and support, and I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas. :)
I’ve really loved your approach to blogging. I think that’s why you’ve been able to keep it up for so long. Can you remind me what your cadence is and have you ever taken time off publishing?
I had to google "blogging cadence" - if it's about regularity, then I post every Monday - except for the couple of weeks over Christmas/New Year when I take a break. I keep thinking I'll take more breaks, but things pop into my head and another post appears. I'm back on my blog in January with my Word of the Year post - always one of my favourite things to do - I love how it always motivates me.
I just joined in September and I already love it here. I’m so excited to find out what my blog will look like on my one year anniversary!
Welcome!! Things have changed completely in a year. I can't wait to see how things unfold for you in the coming year xx

Sub-stats! I love it!
A 2024 stats by Substack would be so helpful!

I’m really struggling with this at the moment. I tell myself it’s a way to relax, but I think it’s more that I’m numbing or disassociating. 😅
Want to hold each other accountable? 😄

Thanks for adding me to your list of recommendations Mika!
The notes find was a good one. I haven't gotten the hang of notes here just yet. It still feels like our secret corner of the interwebs.
Congratulations on all of your success! Seasons' Greetings!
I’ve been by-passing notes and going straight to my inbox and I’m loving it!
Then if I have something I want to say, it’s nice to have Notes as an outlet. 😄
I think with the busyness of the season, I need slow scrolling

I agree that it is hard to keep up reading all of the lovely Substacks posts. I use the save feature a lot for this so I can go back and read later.

YES! Agree...!

That's awesome! I'm thinking about taking some time off posting over the holidays. I'm definitely pausing my chats over the holidays.
Thank you so much for sharing your words and reflections with us this year 🙏🌱
You are so welcome. I loved watching you and your wife’s journey on Substack. 😊
Thanks so much for your support 🙏✨
Great work, Mika! And thanks also for posting your #s and letting us know how it's going. Have a great holiday!!!
My pleasure!! I'm glad you find it helpful!
This is a really great and detailed recap post, thank you, very informative! :)
It’s been so fun to track my journey on Substack. I’m glad you enjoyed it!
And it was an interesting journey :)
I was rereading some of my past Substack Diary posts and it brings back so many memories ☺️
Really appreciate the mention. It’s been a real rollercoaster here!
It’s been fun to watch your journey. It takes time and thought to come up with your illustrations. I’m glad your efforts are being rewarded.
Thanks for the shout-out! ❤️
You’re so welcome! I hope stripe and Substack get their act together so all writers can get compensated.
That would be great. It really sucks to have to do it this way, and I'm pretty sure it's damaging my reach 😓
