I think for me just showing up was a game changer. Like I mentioned a few days ago, I have struggled with fear of success for so long that it got difficult for me to be active here because I was scared that people will start noticing my work.
I decided to let go of that notion and spent time interacting with the amazing community here. Substack is truly different from any other social media platform.
Oh it’s been better 😅 I can at least open my eyes today... yesterday my head hurt to bad to even open them... it was a rough day and my husband had to cancel some calls. Today the pain killers are working a bit better so I hope I passed the peak - thanks for asking it’s very sweet of you 🙏🏼 don’t even remember when I got this sick last 🥵 maybe no wonder my head was a bit empty the other day when I wrote my last post 🫣
You poor thing. When I’m sick, I start craving the food my mum would make me when I’m sick (kind of like a porridge dish, but made with rice, egg and soy sauce). I hope you feel better soon. 🤒(I think you’re post was great!!)
Thanks Claire! Did you know that the Note I posted in your Notes chat thread had no likes or comments for days. It seemed destined for the Notes abyss, and then I put it in the chat thread and now it has 35 likes, 8 replies and 6 restacks!
Love it when a plan comes together!! Yay! It works because there's not 100s of them to sift through - it's targeted and feels safe to share and be seen there I think...
Wow, so much to celebrate here! It’s clear you’ve worked hard for this and how fun to know your newsletters have more eyes on it now! I like how you’re fostering your own community too.
Btw, my husband’s stocking gift to me was a whole collection of those Japanese sweets. 🍬 Which are your favorites?!
Ya-hooo Erika! 👋 I have loved meeting a fellow Hāfu on Substack!! 🎌
My fav Japanese sweets has to be anything omeboshi flavoured. The gum! LOTTE Koume hard candy (with the girl in the kimono on the packaging). Yum yum yum!
YES!!!! Those are both delicious omg. 😍😍 My Obāchan would send us cans full of homemade うめぼし when I was growing up. Nothing compared to how juicy, salty, and sour those were!
Hi, new here and already feel at home somehow. Sarah Fay has been my favorite spot on Substack, and has taught me so much. Even though I've had this space for almost two years, this month I decided to shift how I approach it, and it's made all the difference!
I sat down with my journal this morning and wrote out where I want to be in 5 years & it immediately brought so much joy to me…so much excitement! That joy and excitement tells me I am doing what I am meant to do! Thank you… may just post a note today showing my chicken scratch of my 5 years goal!!! Thank you for the nudge!
Thank you for sharing your journey so far. This really hit home with me, a relative newbie to Substack who just recently hit 100 subscribers. It shows the real life path of growth starting from nothing and supports the value of a free community. In a flurry of “grow your stack quickly” writers, this is an encouraging breath of fresh air!
Congratulations on 100 subscribers! That number represents so much work behind the scenes. I think we are all just trying to figure out Substack. All we know for sure is that we have something we want to share with the world. 💕 A huge congratulations for shining a light on your work and what’s in your heart!
Well done! Such an achievement. I've been following you since you did your hero post - at a time when I was working on my own, yours was an inspiration to me. Thank you!
I'm constantly wanting to tinker with mine, especially as I think a little deeper about what I'd like my Substack to be in this second quarter of the year.
How did you setup the pages "Fav Five 🖐️My Musings ✍️Substack Diaries 📖 Find Your Tribe 🔍" In your substack?? They have a /s/ domain and you are able to add descriptions to the page categories.
When I setup Tags they look like /t/ pages and I can't add a description. and when I make a solo page and add it to the nav bar it is a /p/ url.
Your positive outlook is encouraging! I am almost to 70 subscribers and will take your recommendations and run with them. My biggest challenge is that I have a niche focus. Your comments is making me contemplate having some posts that are broader! TY!
As a fellow newbie who was growing at 2-3 subscribers every month, I understand how happy this feels Mika!🥹
I am so so glad that people are finding you because your posts are really insightful.
I think one thing that works on Substack is writing from the heart, because people connect the most to stories they can relate to in their own lives.
I gained 25 new subscribers in January which is huge!! Sending you so much positivity and love for the journey ahead.✨
Wow! That is amazing!! Celebrating you!! What do you think contributed to the leap in subscribers?

That’s an epic mindset shift!! Congratulations! Here’s to many more shifts!! 🥂
Congratulations Mansi ! Happy to be among them !
Thank you Emily!
Happy to have found you in the process as well! ✨
Congratulations! Here's to your continued growth and success! 🎉
Well done 🫶🏼 I imagine your responses to welcome emails had an impact too! It’s how I checked out your profile first time 🥰🥂
Thank you! How are you feeling by the way? We’re you feeling any better? 💝

Well done Mika, thanks for sharing what worked and what didn’t, it’s great to read about your journey! 👏👏👏
Thank you so much for your support! I had no idea what was going to happen when I started recording my journey, which I really really love.

Jealous! My mum would tell me to stop eating too many, because there was too much salt in it. Hahaha
🤣
Congratulations Mika 👏 it is well deserved, and I really enjoy reading your posts ❤️
Thanks Aleks! It’s been an unexpected crazy ride. Thank you so much for your support. 🥰

Oh wow, thank you. It’s funny, you always feel like you can tweak it a bit more, so that means a lot! xx
I'm constantly wanting to tinker with mine, especially as I think a little deeper about what I'd like my Substack to be in this second quarter of the year.
Yes. I think that’s why I also tinkered with my welcome email as well. As we evolve on here, it makes sense that those pieces evolve too.

Hope that helps!

You have a lovely publication!
70 is so great! See if you can find our people in our “find your tribe”. I think I remember people talk about chronic illness. 😊
TY!
Love this, even though I’m late to it! Love the transparency with your numbers and how you got there! Go you!!!
Hey Stephanie! 👋
It’s been so fun to write. Learning new things every month!
I love peeking behind the scenes of other creators, so I thought, why not, might be fun to show the numbers. 😄
Congrats on your success so far!
Thank you Alexander 🙏
Excellent advice!
